October Theme

As we continue in our quest for growth, I will like to quickly itemise the aspects of our life that we need to assess, examine, measure and ensure growth. Its best to define milestones of growth on each of these; (NATURE & NUTURE)

  1. Spiritual development
  2. Healthy & Mental Well – being (Emotional & Psychological life) development
  3. Social & Relationship development
  4. Financial development
  5. Habits (values, perception, principles, personal theology) development
  6. Career/Ministry/Academic development
  7. Intelligence development

Having defined our realms of growth; let’s conclude from our last post – Maturity as Growth. We had identified six major headings, (extensively discussing the first) we go on with the remaining five,

A. Maturity gives meaning to life – Matthew 22:35 – 40

The cat race we are running today will have been avoid, if the true meaning of our being is unveiled to us. Thus, all we are trying to find, is the real reason of life. It is believed that the modern day man has lost his meaning in life and finding meaning will answer man’s problem. What is your life philosophy? What is your purpose? One of the greatest goal of Growth as stated by the Lord Jesus is found in Matthew 22:35 – 40 is, Love God, others and Self. You were created in the likeness of God becoming like God. God is Love (I John 4:8, 16; Matthew 5:48, I Corinthians 13: 1 – 3) without God’s special love, life and all that we do is empty and without meaning.

I recall the stories of many dying victims on their sick beds, the only last thing they want to do is to show love to all.

B. Maturity involves and gives balance

Balance in growth, is simply giving the appropriate emphasis to one’s aspect of life per time. It does not mean equality rather its appropriating degree of priority to every aspect of life. Therefore, we need to identify our priorities in life and live by them if we must grow towards maturity.

Quick guidelines that should ensure our balance;

  1. Towards God
  2. Towards Others
  3. Towards Yourself

Just like the 4 – way test of the Life

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

C. Maturity proves for the satisfaction of needs

Wants are unlimited and can never be satisfied. One of the characteristics of a person who has achieved a fairly high degree of maturity is that he or she lives a lifestyle in which his or her own basic needs are met, but in meeting his or her needs he or she does not deprive others of their needs – Satisfaction. The basic and universal need of all people is to have a sense of worth, to be loved and to love. This need can only be meet in Christ Jesus as our relationship, warmth or fellowship grows in our daily experiences and encounter our internal cravings for worth are met. (Matthew 6:31)

D. Maturity leads to Harmony in Relationship

As a growing believer – Obedience is the mark of Growth. Improving means to upgrade! It means, to refine (your capacity, your intimacy, your ambience, your commitment to relationships). Maturity is to ensuring social adjustment to strategic management of time, personality, deeds, friendship and human conditions of all people. Relating in harmonious way with others.

Conflicts and disagreement do not necessarily result in broken relationship, but rather give room for mutual growth between people.

E. Maturity leads to a sense of contribution to life and the kingdom.

Our in depth yarning’s is to know, “why we are on Earth?” That’s why a life without purpose, no pursuit, no sense of accomplishment, its empty. What do you live for? What does your heart ache for? (Psalm 42:1 – 11)Growth at this stage is a sense of destiny.

From the poem written by Marianne Williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.

We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us;
It’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we’re liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others

If you will agree with me, Growth source is God. And to truly grow is to die to flesh while alive in Christ Jesus, the resurrection and the Life. Accept Jesus today!
